Day 1 Guilin arrival (includes dinner)
Your guide will meet you on arrival at the Guilin Liangjiang International Airport (look for him or her holding a Ctrip sign) and transfer you to your hotel (40 minutes). We recommend you book flights arriving at Guilin before 3:00 p.m.
Elephant Trunk Hill, Banyan Lake and Fir Lake
You'll first visit Elephant Trunk Hill (Xiangbi Shan) which has been a Guilin icon for centuries. The spectacular Shui Yue Arch (Water Moon Arch) extends into the Li River, forming the elephant's "trunk" and framing a romantic view of the opposite shore's rugged green karst hills. The elephant's "back," covered with lush vegetation, is home to an elegant Ming Dynasty-era pagoda, and the entire hill is mirrored in peaceful river waters flowing past.
Next, wander along the shores of Banyan Lake and Fir Lake (1 hour) which once protected the city and its people from hostile intruders. Today, it's simply a beautiful place to relax and enjoy some of Guilin's most beautiful views.
Overnight at the Guilin Bravo Hotel or Guilin Park Hotel (Deluxe Room).
Day 2 Guilin-Yangshuo (includes breakfast & lunch)
Guilin to Yangshuo Li River Cruise
Picturesque mountains, peaceful green fields, farms and villages make the cruise from Guilin to Yangshuo one of China's best-loved scenic trips. Buffalo, waterfowl and astonishing limestone karst rock formations add to the scenery. Nearly every peak and pinnacle has a legend attached to it. Your English-speaking guide will tell you the ancient tales that make this magical stretch of river one of China's richest cultural sites. A Chinese buffet-style lunch will be served on board. (3-4 hours)
Yangshuo: West Street, Big Banyan Tree & Moon Hill
Disembark at Yangshuo and wander along West Street (1 hour). Yangshuo's oldest street boasts a history of over 1,400 years and today presents visitors with a unique and vibrant mix of East and West, all within sight of some of China's most striking scenery. This is a perfect opportunity to shop for souvenirs, enjoy a refreshing drink, people-watch and relax.
Next, visit the Big Banyan Tree, which towers some 17 m (56 ft) and is estimated to be as much as 1,500 years old.
Finally visit Moon Hill to see the intriguing hole found halfway up a mountain that resembles a full moon. You'll view it from different angles and see how it waxes and wanes, just like the real moon.
Overnight at the Yangshuo New Century Hotel or Tangrenjie Hotel.
In the evening, why not enjoy "Impressions San Jie Liu" (1 hour), a spectacular show with over 600 performers, live animals, and spectacular lighting effects all performed on the Li River with the majestic limestone mountains as the back drop (additional fee applies).
Day 3 Yangshuo-Guilin (includes breakfast & lunch)
Return to Guilin & Reed Flute Cave
After breakfast, you'll be transferred back to Guilin where you'll visit Reed Flute Cave which is famed for its beautiful array of stalactites, stalagmites, stone columns, curtains and flowers. Fantastic shapes and colors leap forth from the depths of the earth, resembling beasts, plants and fantastical landscapes. A sampling of the names of various rock formations provides a taste of the cave's amazing sights: Rosy Dawn at Lion Hill, Dragon Form Pagoda, the Primitive Forest, the Crystal Palace and the Hill of Flowers and Fruits.
