A high-end option within easy range from Shanghai, Fuchun Resort is set at the foot of misty mountains beside a lake, around an hour outside of Hangzhou. As with the majority of slopes surrounding Zhejiang’s provincial capital, Fuchun’s mountainside features row upon row of tea plantations. The area is home to the famously revered Longjing tea variety and while it’s now nearing the season’s end, tea picking sessions are still available throughout most of this month.
You can wander the 150 acre site at leisure or take in a picking tour as the sun rises over the mountains. It’s a contemplative, slow-burning experience that’s as much about the scenery as the tea harvest itself.
Other activities on offer at the resort include tai chi and yoga sessions, while the site is also home to an international standard 18-hole golf course. On the other hand, if you’re looking to unwind completely, the Fuchun Resort also has a spa, an impressive indoor swimming pool and two outdoor (heated) jacuzzis.
