The Shanghai World Financial Center, best known as the building in Pudong that looks like a giant bottle opener, offers one of the highest and most impressive observation decks in the world. At a height of 492 meters, the SWFC offers stunning sunset views of Puxi and includes a view of the Pearl Tower, which you don’t get from, well, inside the Pearl Tower. Summiting this imposing structure is no inexpensive feat; regular admission to the observation decks costs 180 rmb for the highest point and 120 rmb to see floor 94F only. But if it’s your birthday, you will be treated to free admission on floors 94F, 97F and 100F. There are also discounts for students, seniors, children and the disabled. Opening hours are 8:00 am – 11:00 pm, but admission closes at 10:00 pm. Consider watching the sun set from this unique spot on your special day. Happy birthday to you!
